This project is the refurbishment of an existing hotel, forming one side of Westport’s most prominent public space, the Octagon. Signage & other extrusions were removed & new interventions signalled by lightweight canopies. Double height spaces in the existing building illuminate the deep site plan, interior spaces were conceived as a series of interlinking rooms focused on the Octagon to the front & (in the case of the restaurant) to the town park & Carrowbeg river at the rear.
