This is an A rated contemporary house is located in a suburb of Galway City. Its form is defined by a zinc roof which folds over the volume of the building and extends beyond the external walls creating a transition zone between inside and outside. The roof provides sun screening / privacy at the front and shelter for the rear patio. Bedrooms contained within the roof face east to the rear ensuring privacy while living spaces face west. Materials used are restrained giving an open contemporary feel. Large areas of glazing are used to maximize intermittent sunshine typical of the west coast.
